Brightwater Towns
Our townhome designs for this waterfront community in Port Credit take their cues from the cresting waves of Lake Ontario and prioritize connections to the outdoors.
Project
Description
Located within a new 72-acre waterfront community in Mississauga, Brightwater Towns feature lakefront-inspired designs and invigorating outdoor spaces — landscaped front lawns, private walk-ups, and expansive terraces — that connect to the neighbourhood’s parks, trail system, and nearby bustling shopping district in Port Credit.
The first phase of the townhouse development will erect 106 units, ranging from 1,900 to 2,600 sf, that consist of three unit types derived from wave and geometrical patterns: the flip-and-fold, the flat-top, and the peak-and-valley. To optimize both construction and design, we adopted a “kit-of-parts” approach. Each block features a recurring configuration of the three different townhouse styles. By streamlining the fabrication and construction processes, we were able to gain efficiencies without compromising variability: we developed a series of interchangeable façades and material palettes that allowed us to retain the flexibility to express individuality within each block.
The majority of the building elements — the panelized wood frames, floors, roofs, and walls, including the air barriers and insulation — were fabricated off-site. Off-site fabrication enables just-in-time delivery, which reduces on-site staging requirements. The overall fabrication process optimized labour as well as the construction schedule while improving quality assurance and coordination among the various trades.
