Mississauga Stadium + Clubhouse

This state-of-the-art sports and recreation facility includes a two-storey multipurpose clubhouse, full-size soccer pitch, and tensile dome structure that enables all-season use of a field that was previously underused during the winter.

Project
Description

Visible from Ontario’s Highway 401, the Mississauga Stadium + Clubhouse’s crisp blue-and-white graphic exterior references the adjacent school’s official colours and telegraphs the stadium’s mission: to be a welcoming, easy-to-access destination for all-season sport, play, and recreation. Located on the grounds of Mississauga Secondary School, the facility serves students exclusively during the day and opens to the public after school hours. The steel-and-fabric dome is inflated between fall and spring, enabling year-long use of the athletic field.

The building’s façade consists of insulated metal panels whose corrugated surfaces catch the sun and precisely aligned joints emphasize the building’s clean, utilitarian expression. The vertical panel joints forge a shared language with the dome’s soft, continuous seams, establishing a coordinated rhythm across two materially and geometrically distinct volumes.

Set within a continuous dark blue horizontal cut, the recessed entrance intuitively guides visitors into a friendly, light-filled lobby. Bold on the outside and bright and colourful on the inside, the 15,000-sf clubhouse features fitness and flexible spaces, meeting rooms, classrooms, administrative offices, change areas, washrooms, and dome storage. Windows on both sides bring ample daylight into the building and create sightlines that connect indoors and outdoors.
